QOTD: Did you play any sports growing up?

I was on the swim team growing up and I loved it. I was a sprinter and a long distance swimmer so I mostly swam 25m and 50m when I was younger, and then was able to do 500m in high school. I wish there was a lap pool more conveniently located to me because I sorely miss it!

This book was such a fun read for me because it combined my love of swimming with my love of mystery novels. As well, like any good middle grade novel, this book contained some great messages for young readers.

Maddie, our protagonist, is a 13-year-old girl who is just trying to enjoy her life, but this boy won't stop harassing her. Couple that with someone messing with her family's pool and you'll find there is much to discuss in this book. I enjoyed all the representation in this book including anxiety (Maddie) and alopecia (Maddie's bff). It was well-discussed and represented, and Arguelles wrote it well for her young audience.

There is a great cast of characters in this book including two certain boys who were cracking me up the entire time. Maddie had a great support team as she dealt with things with the boy who won't leave her alone and things at her family's pool. They all become Nancy Drew as they work to solve the great pool mystery and deal with a few other issues the group is facing.

After waiting what feels like a millennium (but was really like, a year?), the last book in THE INHERITANCE GAMES series is here in all of his red-cover glory! With it, came all the much-anticipated answers I've been waiting so long for. Soooo let me share just a few of my thoughts on this book.

First, I have to say, as usual, the puzzles and games were so fun and exciting to figure out. The amount of thought and planning Barnes has put into these is amazing. So props to her and her mind for that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This book really made me fall in love with the Hawthorne brothers. I already liked them quite a bit, but seeing them in this book was different. They all accept Avery as one of them. They support her. They love her (some of them romantically) and it was just a good feeling to have from the brothers. I especially have to point out that Xander is the bestest boy that ever bested. I love him so much and I'm so glad things worked out the way they did for him!

There is so much to be said about this book, but I'll leave it with you just have to read it to know. If you think you have everything figured out, no you don't. If you think Barnes isn't going to put you through the emotional ringer, think again.

I would be down for a spin off series. The ending of the book kinda left things where there could be a spin off with more puzzles and games and things, but maybe not. But maybe...

For me it’s this series, THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL. I really need to read it before the tv adaptation is released but I just haven’t had the chance yet.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. I don't even know where to start because I loved everything about the book. All the characters were likable and well-rounded, the dialogue was witty and funny, the plot was engaging, the suspense didn't feel contrived or too cheesy, and the romance was *chefs kiss*
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are lots of characters in this book, but somehow, Score manages to make them all likeable in very different ways and makes the reader feel like they really know each character by the end. We have our main protagonists, Naomi and Knox, who are perfection, but there are also Waylay and Liza J, and all the girls at Honky Tonk, and our lovely librarian and so many others. I seriously can't tell you how great all of the characters are. And, perhaps most impressive of all, there is a dog (multiple really) in this book and Score keeps up with him. He's in multiple scenes, has his own personality, and I'm just in awe. I feel like pets are so often brought up and then forgotten about or not included at all.

Now I have to talk the best part of all, the romance. Knox is this broody, moody, prefers to be alone, doesn't do relationships kinda guy. But around Naomi, he's mostly still those things but add overprotective. Oh my gosh he's so overprotective and it's kinda the best. I'm not usually into that but somehow he pulls it off. And Naomi is the sunshine to his grumpy and it makes for all the fireworks in their relationship. I could not get enough of them. It was a medium slow burn with a sorta friends with benefits thing happening, but they weren't fooling anyone.

I literally have nothing negative to say about this book. If I could recommend this book to you a million times over I would. It lives up to the hype!
