Holland Delviss wants to be known for her talent as a hockey player, not a hockey player who happens to be a girl. But when her school team is selected to be featured and televised as part of HockeyFest, her status as the only girl on the boys’ team makes her the lead story. Not everyone is thrilled with Holland’s new fame, but there’s one person who fiercely supports her, and it’s the last person she expects (and definitely the last person she should be falling for): her bossy team captain, Wes.

I am in my hockey romance era right now so, do you ask, did I hate this book so much?
The nicknames for each hockey player mixed with their real names was confusing at times. I was having to keep track of both names, along with their relation to the FMC, and it was too much.
This book went zero to one hundred real quick. There was a super abrupt change of heart from Holland not liking Wes to suddenly feeling attracted to him. Then, all of a sudden, she has feelings for him all in one night. Where did that even come from? Where did Wes’ feelings come from?
Holland was also not a super likable character. I’m all about unlikable FMCs, but I couldn’t find a motive for her unlikability. Why was she so mean all the time? Made no sense to me.
Also, I know this is YA, but Wes would say some things that were nice and other really cringey things. Again, I know he’s a teenager, but I’ve read some well written teenage romances so I know what could be.
Lastly, what’s the deal with this title?
Overall, hated this book like I haven’t hated a book in a while. I just ended up skimming towards the end. Glad I knocked that off the tbr.
