Eliza and Graham are anticipating an anything-but-sexy, weeklong getaway to celebrate their five-year anniversary. Nestled on the Northern California coastline, the resort prides itself on being a destination for those in love and those looking to find it. For Eliza and Graham, it might as well be a vacation with a roommate.
When a well-meaning guest mistakes Eliza and Graham for being single and introduces them at the hotel bar, they don’t correct him. Suddenly, they’re pretending to be perfect strangers and it’s unexpectedly…fun? Eliza and Graham find themselves flirting like it’s their first date, and waiting with butterflies in their stomach for the other to text back.
Everyone at the retreat can sense the electric chemistry between Eliza and Graham’s alter egos. But when their scintillating game of roleplaying ends, will they still feel the heat?

Marriage in peril books are some of my favorites so I was particularly excited to see my favorite author duos take on the trope.
Sweet sweet Graham had a heart of gold that I wanted to wrap up and protect always. He always felt like he wasn’t good enough for incredible Eliza and had some self-esteem issues. It was interesting to see how his personal perception of himself contributed in allowing complacency and routine to outweigh romance and emotion in the marriage. I just really loved him.
Eliza had a lot of feelings that were so incredibly relatable I almost felt like I was reading about me. She often felt like she had to hide parts of herself and or block out certain emotions to avoid the nasty parts of life. And I love that these thoughts and emotions were explored. As well as, some possible effects that they have on a marriage.
I loved David as a side character. I didn’t expect to get much out of the side characters, but I’m glad he ended up being developed more than I thought. It was a pleasant surprise.
Overall, however, I really enjoyed this book and am feeling motivated to read the other adult romance this duo has released.

Great review! I’ve found myself starting to enjoy marriage-in-crisis romances more and this one sounds like a lot of fun 🙂 I’ve been seeing it around a lot lately too so I’ll have to keep it on my radar.

I’ve been enjoying the marriage in crisis books as well. If you haven’t read Ever After Always by Chloe Liese or The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams, those are also great ones along the same lines
