Ruthless. Meticulous. Arrogant.
Dante Russo thrives on control, both personally and professionally.
The billionaire CEO never planned to marry—
until the threat of blackmail forces him into an engagement with a woman he barely knows.
Vivian Lau, jewelry heiress and daughter of his newest enemy.
It doesn’t matter how beautiful or charming she is. He’ll do everything in his power to destroy the evidence and their betrothal.
There’s only one problem: now that he has her…he can’t bring himself to let her go.

Elegant. Ambitious. Well-mannered.
Vivian Lau is the perfect daughter and her family’s ticket into the highest echelons of high society.
Marrying a blue-blooded Russo means opening doors that would otherwise remain closed to her new-money family.
While the rude, elusive Dante isn’t her idea of a dream partner, she agrees to their arranged marriage out of duty.
Craving his touch was never part of the plan.
Neither was the worst thing she could possibly do: fall in love with her future husband.

After not loving the last two books I read from Ana Huang (Twisted Love, Twisted Games) I was feeling skeptical about this one. However, I’m pleased to say I loved this one. The writing felt more mature, more developed. I liked the characters better and the plot was more engaging.
This book is set in the same world as the Twisted series so we see some characters from that series in this book. Mostly, it’s Christian from Twisted Lies, but there are a couple of moments with other characters.
I liked both Vivian and Dante as characters. They were each strong in their own way, had family problems they were working on, and were not ready to fall in love with each other. I love an arranged marriage/marriage of convenience so this was right up my alley. There were so many unexpected sweet moments between them, despite their situation.
Much like Huang’s other books, the MMC was a possessive, billionaire type. However, as I mentioned above, I liked everything about this book better than her others including the MMC. Yes, he was possessive, but there was something about him that didn’t feel so toxic.
Overall, I really liked this book! There was some set up for other characters in the series which I’m really excited for. Can’t wait for the next one!

Great review! I didn’t realise that this was a new series by Huang. I was a little tempted to read her Twisted series but had heard so many mixed reviews and mostly negative 😅 Glad to hear this one was better! I do enjoy marriage of convenience too so I might have to keep this on my radar.

I’ve heard so many people rave about the Twisted series, but it wasn’t my favorite. If you want to get a sense of Huang’s writing and the “type” of books she writes, this is definitely the one to read

I’ve actually read two of her books before–If We Ever Meet Again and If the Sun Never Sets. I enjoyed the first book but already found it quite angsty (more so than my usual reads) but I heard her Twisted books are even angstier but also the guys might be a little problematic (or something like that anyway)? 😂 I’ll definitely keep an eye out for this one!

Definitely lots of angst in the Twisted series and very possessive alpha male types. I can’t say this one is too different. It’s just better written
