Zanders
Chicago hockey isn’t complete without me—everyone’s favorite player to hate. I know my role, and I play it well. In fact, I thoroughly enjoy spending the majority of my game time in the penalty box before leaving the arena with a new girl on my arm each night.
What I don’t like is the new flight attendant on our team’s private plane. She works for me, not the other way around. But I’ll be sure to remind her of that, and I can guarantee, by the end of the season, she’ll be begging to quit her job.
But every road trip blurs the lines, and I can’t quite figure out if I keep pushing that flight attendant call button in order to push her buttons or if it’s more than that.
Stevie
I’ve been a flight attendant for years. I thought I’d see it all, but when my new job lands me onboard working for the most egotistical and self-righteous diva in the NHL, I start to second guess everything. Including the promise I made to myself of never hooking up with an athlete again…no matter how annoyingly tempting he may be.
Evan Zanders is unfiltered, unapologetic, and too attractive for his own good. He loves his image, but I hate everything about it.
Everything but him.

– forbidden romance
– workplace romance
– BIPOC FMC and MMC
Zanders is one of my new book boyfriends. This man with his designer everything and his gold rings and tattoos absolutely stole my heart. I love how in tune with his feelings he is, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have some issues to work through the same as Stevie. He was aware enough to know (and a therapy man which we love), but he wasn’t perfect. I think his development was well-paced and lined up perfectly with the plot.
Stevie is someone I have related to on some level throughout my life. She’s strong and sure of herself, but not all the time. Sometimes she struggles from body image issues. Sometimes she’s the best friend anyone could want and sometimes she needs the best friend support. I loved her character and loved seeing her grow and develop alongside Zee.
The angst in this book was next level and I loved every minute of it. We got enough slow burn to ache for this relationship, some time within it, and some break up time to see what we lost. It all added up to a spectacular romance that had me tearing up and wishing it would never end.
Overall, if you love sports romances and character-driven books, pick this up!! You will find a man who does ridiculous things for his niece and pines after a woman he can’t have. And a woman who is strong in her convictions and weak when it comes to one particular man.

Zanders does sound like a great book boyfriend. We also enjoy the hate to love trope.
The hate to love is superior!
I’ve heard so many great things about this one. It’s on my Kindle already and I should definitely pick it up soon 😂 Glad to hear that this lived up to the hype for you. Great review!
It was phenomenal. I’m still not over it
