When Laurel Cates uncovers a shocking story about Garland’s football coach, it takes all of her courage to publish the story in the school’s paper. And when it reverberates around the country, the ramifications are both personal and professional. But nowhere are the repercussions stronger than in Laurel’s everyday life as she can’t seem to avoid Bodie St. James, the star quarterback, whose own career now hangs on the brink as a result of her article…

I read this book years ago on Wattpad and loved it just as much reading it in its published format!
The story was a little slow, but totally worth it. It has the heart of the #metoo movement as told from the eyes from a journalist trying to find the truth. It was emotional, and heartfelt, and honest.
I love our leading man, Bodie St. James so much! He’s a genuinely nice guy trying to do the right thing and I loved him so much for that. We hardly ever see genuinely nice guys as the love interest, especially when there is a bit of an enemies to lovers thing going on, but that wasn’t the case in this book. This man was it. We love a nice, supportive king!
Now, about the romance, it was a slow burrrrrn. Forced proximity through a group project? Check. On opposing sides of a conflict? Check. A few drunken encounters? Checkkkk. I loved Laurel and Bodie together. They balanced each other out and really brought out the best in each other. Seeing them figure out their feelings for each other while also figuring out what was happening with Bodie’s football coach was a tricky path that they navigated very well.
Overall, this book was everything I remember it being and so much more. Marchant is a brilliant writer and I can’t wait to see what she writes next! I’m a forever fan!
