Synopsis
Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But it’s not a skill that she’s ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they’ve begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie.
What Cassie doesn’t realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides—especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Sarcastic, privileged Michael has a knack for reading emotions, which he uses to get inside Cassie’s head—and under her skin. Brooding Dean shares Cassie’s gift for profiling, but keeps her at arm’s length.
Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms closer than Cassie could ever have imagined. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive.

Review
After loving THE INHERITANCE GAMES, I decided to check out more books by Barnes and I’m so glad I did! This book was incredible! It was absolutely one of the best thriller/mystery/crime books I’ve ever read!
Barnes is just a master plotter. She brought together elements from all different parts of the book to solve this mystery. Things I never would have even thought twice about turned out to be an important part to solving the crime. And then that plot twist! What! Never saw it coming.
But moving on, I loved these characters, especially the teenagers apart of The Naturals program. Each teen has something to hide, particularly regarding their past. Each one was mysterious and intriguing and keeping a secret. That’s what made part of this mystery so difficult to figure out. I was trying to focus on figuring out who the teenagers were and on the crime so I never saw the ending coming. I loved it.
Also, there was a fun love triangle in this book which made things interesting. I love both guys equally as of now so I can’t wait to see how things end up panning out. They’re both so different so our main character would have a very different relationship with each one, but I love them both too much to choose sides right now!
Overall, this was heartbreaking, heart-pounding, and intriguing until the end! I was sucked in from the first page and then chewed up and spit out at the end. I can’t wait to see what other crimes I get to solve with these master serial killer detectives!
